She has homeschooled my two boys for the past year. My 11 year old has gone from not being able to spelling words like “bacon” to understanding phonics and why letters sound the way they do.

    Frequently asked questions

I like to assess where a student’s understanding is at. I want to know what their general knowledge is about the chosen subject. This can be determined by a simple conversation and some well placed questions. There’s no need for scary tests.

I have my Bachelor’s in Communications and have been through some TESOL training.

Pricing may vary, depending on how often the student needs help. The more often a student books, the cheaper the price. For example: if a student needs more sessions in one week, each session will be priced cheaper due to the frequency of booking.

$1.00 a minute for a single booking in a week

    $0.75 a minute for 2,3,or 4 bookings in a week

    $0.50 a minute for 5,6 or 7 bookings in a week.

Bookings come in 30 minute or 60 minute time brackets.

I found my love of teaching when I started subbing for a local school district. I didn’t realize, before how exhilarating it can be. When I am done with my PhD, my goals are to teach on the collegiate level.

Chinese students, middle schoolers, elementary, high school, etc.

I was recently teaching a young student in China, English. He seemed to be struggling with the concept of the lesson, but he was trying so hard. I took a break and just started singing songs to him. He connected with the songs and in turn, began singing back. The human mind can become so overwhelmed by something that it doesn’t understand, that sometimes a breather is in order.

Make sure the teacher that you hire has a passion for their job. Monetone and misery is not the breeding ground for success.

Think about where you want to be, think about what goals you have in mind, and think about whether the desire to learn is there or not. Just because you don’t like something doesn’t mean you can’t be good at it. Often times we dislike learning something knew because we don’t like feeling like we “don’t got it”. Take the time to listen to your teacher, they may have a way of seeing things that you’ve never thought of.
