Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I would get to know the student and their interests. That way I can frame the materials to match their interests.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Science of Education and I taught for my first year during the pandemic. This past school year was my second year teaching. However, my education program had me in the classroom my first semester. I have used Google Meets and Google Classroom throughout the pandemic.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Base rate is $15 an hour.
If a student is scheduled 3+ times a week it would be $30 an hour.
However, I will have the first half hour of the session be free to see if your scholar likes the tutoring process online.
How did you get started teaching?
I always watched how teachers made an impact on others. I also used to play teacher as a way to help me study. If I knew how to explain it, that meant I understood the material.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students who have 504 Plans and I have worked with other students of different capabilities too.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for someone who would value your interests and to implement them. If you are not having fun learning, it is just going to make it harder.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Ask yourself if you would be able to explain this to someone else without having help.
