About

Every person has the God-given need to communicate with others, and helping others to use language in the most effective way in order to build relationships and become well-rounded individuals is one of my greatest joys.

I have been an English teacher for over five years. I have two and a half years of experience teaching English as a second language online with VIPKid, and three years of classroom experience as a high school and junior high English teacher at a private Christian school in Menomonee Falls, WI. I have experience working with children from four years old to seniors in high school.

I graduated from Bob Jones University in 2016 with my bachelor's degree in English, and in 2019 I completed a training course with the International TEFL and TESOL Training and received a Certificate of Teaching English as a Foreign Language.

Frequently asked questions

In order to build a relationship with a new student, I like to spend a few minutes at the beginning getting to know him as a person. Then, I will ask him to articulate to me how he sees the problem he needs help with. Once I have a rough idea of the student's needs, I will test the student by giving him an exercise to complete and walking him through critical thinking questions.

In-person tutoring sessions are 35 dollars an hour (sixty-minute session).

Online tutoring sessions are 30 dollars for the same amount of time.

During my two and a half years of online ESL teaching, my students were all Chinese speakers with ages ranging from four to fifteen. Most of my regular students were aged ten to twelve.

Now my students are junior high and high school aged, and although our school has several foreign exchange students, most of our students are native English speakers.

Look for a teacher who will give you the tools to think for yourself. If you only find someone who will do your work for you, then you will not really grow as a learner or a person. Try to find a tutor who will challenge you!

Concerning English teachers specifically, look for a teacher who has a strong background in grammar and phonics. You will want someone who understands the building blocks of language, because knowing the foundation of your subject is essential to mastering it.

- Am I really willing to put the mental work into mastering the concepts I struggle with?

- Can I specifically articulate what I struggle with and why?

(If you can answer these two questions, you will give your teacher the necessary information to help you!)
