About

I am a teacher who possesses both academic and colloquial knowledge of the Spanish language. I earned my degree from the University of Wisconsin - Parkside in Kenosha, WI. I graduated Cum Laude with 3.69 GPA. I have taught Spanish at Gateway Technical College in Kenosha, WI, at St. Catherine ́s HS in Racine, WI, and in the Lighted Schoolhouse Program at the Racine Unified School District. I also acquired much of my knowledge through personal relationships with Mexican people and those of other Latin American countries. I worked on a truck farm for several years in the 80s. I spoke Spanish every day working alongside the immigrant agricultural workers. I was married to a woman from Central Mexico for 24 years - we spoke Spanish at home on a daily basis. I formed close relationships with my in - laws and, I commicated with them in Spanish regularly. I still do. Spanish is a major part of my life! Even my dog ́s name is Oso, which means bear in Spanish. I acquire great satisfaction from passing my knowledge on to my students. It is a feeling that is like no other - to be able see the expression on a student ́s face when he/she finally ́gets it ́ It is extremley rewarding!

I am passionate about the Spanish language. It is exhilarating to see a student acquire the same feeling, and a desire to learn that makes teaching a worth while endeavor! Passing on the ability to communicate effectively in any language is exremely satisfying. Seeing the acquisition of this knowledge in a student ́s expressions and hearing it in his/her words is a very rewarding feeling!

    Frequently asked questions

I like to get know a little about the student before working with him/her. It is extermely useful to know his/her learning style- hands on, visual, practical, etc. Does he/she learn more effectively through pictures, or written excercises? Does he/she respond better to learning from a traditional text book, or from auditory and visual instructions. The key to developing a teaching method begins with this!"
