Experienced Math Tutor Sam
About
Hello! My name is Sam and I have a Bachelor’s degree from Smith College. I began working in education when I was fourteen; I worked as a teacher’s aide in Sunday school. This gave me an excellent vantage point from which to watch some great educators do their work. I was able to learn how best to interact with students in a positive and encouraging manner, and after college I returned home to become a teacher at that same school. I also began tutoring.
I have always excelled in academics, particularly when it came to standardized tests, so it seemed natural to put my scholastic inclinations to work helping others achieve their academic goals. It is extremely rewarding to help students excel in school and to know that I may have had a meaningful impact on their lives through helping bump up their ACT scores to get them into the college of their dreams. I am a patient tutor. I’m happy when my students succeed, and not critical when they fall short of their expectations.
I tutor students in a range of subjects: GRE (Verbal and Quant), PSAT (all sections), ACT (all sections), and SAT Math. I also tutor Literature, Math (through Pre-Calculus), and Biology (through high-school level). I’ve been tutoring now for over three years, and have worked with a variety of students and needs, from the eight year-old needing reading help to the adults needing help studying for their GRE.
I am easily reachable and will always respond quickly to any questions/concerns/scheduling inquiries. Feel free to contact me at any time; I look forward to working with you!
