Remote English Tutor And Homework Helper
About
I am a PhD candidate in English literature at The University of Wisconsin-Madison. I have taught college courses in composition and literature for 3 years, and I have also worked as a Writing Center tutor. Prior to coming to UW-Madison, I taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade ELA.
My experience working with such a wide range of ages and abilities allows me to adapt to each student's unique needs. I am patient, and believe that positive reinforcement and encouragement are essential to making tutoring a rewarding and successful experience.
I think one-on-one support can make a huge difference for students, and I love being able to provide students with the type of support that they don't get in a normal classroom setting. I also love seeing students rise to their full potential and gain confidence in themselves as learners and thinkers. Finally, I like getting to know students as individuals and building strong relationships!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First, I prefer to discuss goals with the student and parent together to figure out what kind of assistance everyone is looking for. Then, I have a conversation with the student to get to know them a bit better and establish rapport. Then, I take a look at some of their work to get a sense of where their strengths and areas from improvement are, and then we dive into working on skill! I am able to provide my own lesson content but I am also happy to utilize the student's homework as the main focus of our lesson.
