About
I have a Bachelor's degree in Linguistics and German so I am very knowledgeable about the underlying parts of langugae learning and teaching. I am excited to help English language learners improve on and expand their skills especially for real world situations. I also look forward to helping student improve their German or Italian skills. I have been tutoring English language learners in Elementary school for two years on a volunteer basis through the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and I have recently taken on private students since graduating. I spent a school year teaching a variety of ages, class sizes and class types online with a company that provides English teachers with schools in Indonesia. I am TESOL certified.
I love all aspects of languages. Language skills and language learning is very exciting for me. Multilingualism is one of the most important skills a person can have in my opinion so tutoring allows me to both improve my own language skills as well as help other people improve theirs.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I start off with a casual skills "assessment" to see what level the student is at and where I need to start for improving their skills. I do these "assessments" in a more conversational environment to better see what a stundet's actually working knowledge of a language is.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Linguistics and German, as well as a certificate in Italian. During college I took both child psychology courses as well as education psychology and I have been working with students in a variety of manners since high school.
How did you get started teaching?
I first started by providing general classroom support at a summer school program and I really enjoyed that so when I got to college and heard about the English Language tutoring program I thought it sounded like a great idea and jumped right into classroom leadership in that program.
What types of students have you worked with?
During high school I worked with a variety of elementary aged students because I was volunteering at the local public summer school. More recently I have been working with English Language learning students from overseas.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure you choose someone you are comfortable with because almost all language teaching happens through conversation.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What areas of language do they want to focus on? (Pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, general conversation skills)
