About
My students have improved their grades by a minimum of one level and often more. They will tell you that I make learning fun and they can see how they have improved over time. I have had success with resistent learners, shy and talkative personalities, and over achievers who strategize on how to find the answer without understanding the concept. My teaching style allows for adjustments to match the needs of my learners. I am comfortable with a variety of subjects. I am patient, thoughtful, and very good at explaining things from several different perspectives. I have had a lot of success keeping younger students focused on learning, with interactive lessons that focus on helping students reach a little higher than what they are accustomed to. Often my students tell me they feel like they worked really hard and their brain hurts! In addition, I understand the complexities of adult learners and can work around struggles and roadblocks that have always held them back. I have a lot of tools in my ever growning toolbox! I look forward to working with you!
I love helping others learn, and I love having an excuse to learn new things myself! I enjoy the challenge of finding the right words, or resources to best meet the needs of my students. I especially take pleasure in seeing smile on my students' faces when they finally understand something they had been struggling with.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When I first meet a new student, I try to put them at ease by engaging them in conversation to help better understand their needs and goals. Over time, I begin to get a complete picture of how they learn best, and the types of activities they enjoy. I leverage this information to get the most out of our time together making adjustments as needed.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BA and MA in Education; Instructional Design and Technology; and a certification in Montessori Education. I owned a Montessori 3-K school for 6 years and taught at a Montessori elementary school in the middle of the Kettle Moraine forest. I am certified through the Wisconsin Technical College System and currently teach adults to help them attain their GED/HSED and to improve in their Math and Language Arts so they can be successful in a Vocational program. In addition, I have been tutoring elementary and high school students for 4 years.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I currently charge $40 an hour for ongoing tutoring and $50 an hour for on demand tutoring.
How did you get started teaching?
I got started teaching when I was a still a teenager working for Taco Bell. The company was opening a new store and looking for a way to train a large number of employees quickly. I designed a training program for them and implemented it. It was a lot of fun and was very successful. I began to pursue a career in education after realizing how much I enjoyed this work.
What types of students have you worked with?
I work with students of all ages and walks of life. I have had a lot of success with students who struggle with ADHD and Anxiety issues specifically, but have worked with struggling readers, those completely confused by math, and homeschool students who are taking their entire class with me.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would say that it is important to find someone who is able to adjust to the circumstances at hand. If you are hiring a tutor, chances are you are understand the value of education. If you have a tutor that does not help you or your loved one be successful, then you are wasting your time and money.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
I would say students should ask specific questions and not be afraid of sounding dumb. Teachers do not think you are dumb for not knowing something. They see it as an opportunity to help you get over the hump!
