I have been teaching math for 9 years. I specialize in building skills necessary for problem solving and higher level thinking through conceptual understanding and application. I firmly believe that if you understand why the math makes sense, you will remember it better and longer. This allows you to grow and become an independent problem solver.
It is my passion to figure out what makes sense to you so we can utilize that way of thinking to tackle challenges. Not everyone sees math the same way and there are multiple strategies that get you to the same result. I help build your confidence to work independently and then fine tune those strategies to help you work smarter and faster.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
To gain a better understanding of your knowledge, I ask probing questions that allow you to demonstrate what you know and your line of thinking. When I observe how you see the math, I can guide you to discover new connections.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Middle Childhood/Early Adolescent Education with a minor in Mathematics. I have taught math for 9 years and have been heavily involved in professional development and data processes for the math department.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with all types of scholars. My specialty is scholars that struggle to keep with class because they need a different way to see the math. I provide multiple ways of learning so the scholar can pick which makes sense to them. I embed skills from previous grades to help bring up their math skills while still meeting the needs of the current grade.
