About

I'm a huge believer in the fact that everyone thinks differently! My lessons are tailor made to each child as an individual! I feel understanding the brain you're teaching is a recipe for success. I'd love to get to know each and every one of you if I could!

I have always for some reason had a passion for English literature, and oddly enough, mostly grammar and spelling. I've always wanted to be in a spelling bee! So if your school offers a spelling contest and you're into it, join it! It's not about winning but learning something new! Okay, and maybe a little about the winning. Ha.

I graduated high school in 2008 and Ashford University in 2014. My specialty is spelling, grammar, freestyle writing and linguistics. Linguistics analysis is actually my most favorite. Discerning differences and patterns in writing is so fascinating and can be very useful if you're a detective for example. Whichever career path you choose in life, writing and reading are going to be apart of it. Guaranteed.

I don't teach AP English and I currently specifically work with children typically elementary and some middle school on spelling and basic grammar. If you're older than elementary/middle school and linguistics tutoring is something you need or like to explore, please email me at [email protected]

What I enjoy most ... seeing children's wheels turn and become proud of themselves for learning or accomplishing something new that they may not have thought they were "good at".

    Frequently asked questions

When working with a new student, to get to know each other I have them write down their favorite color, tell me one thing they're most thankful for, and what they want to be when they grow up. With my younger students, I like to do an exercise with coloring. I have my students draw their family and/or pets. And if they don't have a pet, we have so much fun making up a pet they would want to have.

Most of my training and experience began before college. In high school I mentored elementary students and taught first graders to read. At my job when I was 15 I helped some elderly residents remember how to write again. More so gave them the confidence they were in fact good writers. I tutored middle schoolers on the side as well. I was very busy but I LOVED it. Then I went to college and became a mother and wife. Writing and spelling and teaching children is still my heart's passion so why not tutor again? Hope this long paragraph finds you well. God bless.

$35/hour virtually (weekdays) and flat rate $150 in person & weekends virtually (all sessions are typically 1 hour and 3 hours is the max.)

When I realized people can be pretty stale and not treat each child as an individual, I had enough and decided to teach on my own.
    Almost entirely elementary
    The invention of chips.

I would tell them to look around and check their options with their parent or guardian. Then once they choose their tutor, google them and get a little background check. Especially if you're doing in home visits. And lastly, if you ever feel a bad vibe, leave immediately and always listen to your gut. Your parents will know who is safe to be around you, so always consult your parents before anything.

What it is they're having the most trouble with and what they enjoy the most. Often times if you mix the two you can create breakthroughs. Know what you want to improve on and we can figure out the best way tailored to how the child thinks as an individual. Everyone is unique and with strengths and weaknesses and that's beautiful! Each of us thinks differently!
