About

Each of our students is our number one priority, so we don't have a large student population.

We are a family and faith based organization, so we practice and model morals, ethics and character.

We offer flexible hours and provide advocacy services to students experiencing academic hurdles due to public school administration or policies.

Watching a student begin their path of discovery.

Knowing that there is a success story waiting to be written by each of our youth.

REminding each student that they were created for a purpose and life is about finding that purpose.

What did I get out of the class? I feel the Grand County Center 4 Excellence has helped me and will continue to help me find better research tools for my studies. Larry really showed us to look at a problem and learn how to overcome them in a different way. A way he calls problems are not problems just situations requiring a solution. A lot of the so called problems we were having though were with our research tools and the difficulty of sifting through all the info to find what you want . Though threw all the practice we had with it all having some time limit on them increased my skills on the internet. Not only did this class help in that area but it helped broaden my horizons. I went some where i would of probably never gone with out this class. I got to know the other students in the class increasingly as the trip went on as well. Our trip in Tacoma over all was about black history all the people we interviewed were historians of the black culture on Hilltop. I’ve enjoyed this class and plan to keep taking it.

“For every five youngsters in the hill, four were dealers. Heaven knows how they got it, but they did.” -Harold Moss
The war on Drugs is something widely known, but it the streets of Tacoma, it was like a whole new world. Having the chance to travel to someplace new, abundant with history was incredible. It opened my eyes to events that I would never dream of. Marijuana seems to be a very commonly used substance theses days, and many people make a big deal about it, but if you think smokin reefer is bad, think about this. Youre sitting in your apartment one afternoon when BOOM! The explosion sends you sprinting to see what happened. Later, on the evening news, you hear that the explosion was from a meth lab. The careless chemists over heated the chemicals. Meth and heroin seemed to be the most popular drugs an Tacoma in the 80s and 90s. The thought of 10-14 year olds selling, buying, and even using these substances is chilling. However, these horrific events seemed to turn the city of the Hilltop into a strong one.
