I take a very particular and individualized approach to teaching and tutoring. No two students learn exactly the same way, which is problematic in traditional classroom and lecture hall education envrionments. Students do learn by listening, however there are 11 additional styles of learning. Typically a dominant trait utilizes the best conditions for learning, but we tend to learn in a spectrum. So the other forms of learning become ways to reinforce the learning process. These methods could be visual (reading/watching demonstrations), physical (tactile/hands-on learning), or more interpersonally or intrapersonally (working in groups or alone).
