Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When working with a new student, I like to know what their end goal is. I have worked with people who have never coded, beginners to advanced, and people who needed python for just one obscure course. Starting with understanding the basics of object oriented programming is the most important thing, as well as learning how to think logically like a computer.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I peronsally have taught C# in a profressional setting, assisted in teaching a JavaScript/HTML class, and have been a private tutor for Python and C++.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
There is an hourly rate which depends on the proficiency level of the student.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching while still in school for programming. My first job out of college was teaching, and as I settled into my industry, I still tutored on the side.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students between the ages of 8, in elementary school, to 25+, in college.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for someone with a passion for the language, but not a know-it-all attitude. Find someone who can accept being wrong, but looks out for your best interest.
