All-Around Tutoring

Hi! I'm Mikah, and it's an absolute pleasure to meet you.

I am an experienced educator, with 5 years substitute teaching in the Bellevue School District, as well as classroom experience and college-level teaching experience. I have a degree in biochemistry from the University of St. Thomas, a master's degree in molecular biology from the University of Notre Dame, and am currently wrapping up an master's degree in library science at San Jose State University. I have worked with kids of all ages for years--teaching, nannying, and babysitting, and currently work for a local library system.

I love learning, and I love teaching. I particularly love substitute teaching and continue to do it because I get to run into information I haven't seen in years, relearn it quickly, and present that information in a new, digestible fashion for new learners. I proudly consider myself a bit of a jack-of-all-trades--I've always been interested in a little bit of everything! This served me well when I was on Jeopardy! in 2014. (I placed second, no big money here).

I am focused on inclusion and would be estastic to work with LGBTQ+ students, BIPOC students, students with disabilities, and anyone else who is marginalized by the educational system. Testing has always been enjoyable for me--I would love to help you be a strong test-taker too! I am patient, flexible, and nigh unflappable.

I am comfortable working on all subjects through approximately the eighth-grade level as well as GED prep, adult basic education, advanced biology, and algebra.
