Hi! My name is Roddy. I will be your host at Grammar Captive. I am happy that you have allowed me to introduce myself. I started teaching English as a foreign exchange teacher in Kaiserslautern, Germany many years ago. Since then I have taught in Japan, Hong Kong, Korea, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, and the United States of America. I speak English (native), German, Japanese, and French at various levels of fluency and know bits and pieces -- some small and some large -- of Arabic, Cantonese, and Spanish. Recently I translated a book on the Hidden Christians of Japan from German into English that is already in line to be published. The m

Patricia C. says, "We hired Theo and his team this summer for private work in Science. Our tutor was a former Middle School teacher who had a the background in marine biology. My boy was asking about the session every day and after was learning more on his own about marine life, dinousars, and other animals. The classes have captured his attention. I rated StudentCircle highly for Professionalism and Subject Expertise. I also appreciate that the cost is reasonable compared with other individuals I chatted with. Thank you! We will be continuing in the Fall." Read more

My situation was unique. I had serious epileptic seizures during high school resulting in multiple brain surgeries and a long, challenging recovery. Matt entered my life during this time; I still had assignments to complete before graduation and an impending SAT exam, so I met with Matt twice a week and learned the essential concepts of writing and reading comprehension. While math was my strong suit, Matt helped me identify some earlier math concepts that needed refreshing. My initial SAT score prior to my relationship with Matt was 1260, but, after tutoring, I received a 1510 and was accepted by my school of choice for pre-med studies. I continue to meet with Matt two or three times per week during my undergraduate studies for more advanced writing strategies. I cannot imagine a better academic mentor than I have found with Matt.
