About
I have four years experience teaching English Composition at the college level. I have also spent three years working as an individual and small-group tutor, and I have a Master's Degree in English Literature. Most of my experience is working with young adults and older returning students, but I also occasionally work with high school students who are looking to improve their grades in AP (or advanced track) English, or students who are preparing to take the SAT, ACT, or GRE.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The first thing I do with a new student is assess what that student needs, from a single session to help with a particular project to weekly skill-based lessons. I often ask my students to provide a sample of their writing before we meet so that I can get a sense of where they might be struggling. This helps to save time and get started on better footing.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have fours years experience teaching college level writing, and three years experience working as a writing tutor for individuals or small groups. I also have a Master's Degree in English Literature.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I prefer to work with students online, using a mix of google docs, skype, and e-mail. Depending on the particular needs of the student, I charge between $20-$30 an hour. I am happy to e-mail with potential students (or parents) and include more detailed price structures based on the situation. Please feel free to e-mail with questions.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have taught and tutored at a University in Idaho, a community college south of Seattle, and at a top-ranking University in Seattle. My students have been exceptionally diverse, which is part of what I enjoy about teaching; I get to help people express new ideas and unique points of view.
