Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Every student is different! As such, my process when working with a new student is to get to know their interests, hobbies and skills to infer what type of learner they are. From there, I aim to determine a student's baseline achievement level in the subject area of study to determine what knowledge and skills need improvement.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am currently pursuing a Master's of Arts in Teaching degree and have completed all of the necessary coursework which covers educational psychology, methodologies, technologies etc. as it relates to scientific disciplines. I also have 6 years prior experience working with kids aged 5-17 in an outdoor education environment.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Lessons are priced at $30/hr. Maximum lesson duration is 2.5 hrs.
How did you get started teaching?
After 5 years working as an engineer, I realized I derive the most value from helping others and watching others succeed. I hadn't felt that way since my time working in outdoor education, which prompted my switch to teaching math and science!
What types of students have you worked with?
Experience working with students aged 7-17 across various levels of achievement. I also have experience working with students that have specific learning disabilities and students with ASD.
