About
I am currently a student at Temple University, which I have attended since 2019, and am pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Communication & Social Influence, with a minor in Political Science. I am a members of the honors program at this university, and have experience tutoring a friend's daughter in math and english from 2016-2017, when she was in elementary school. I graduated with honors from Skyline High School in Sammamish, WA in 2019, where I also attended the Running Start program and graduated high school with an Associate's degree. These experiences have allowed me to develop skills in teaching myself and others advanced or difficult course content, and given me a passion for learning in a way that speaks to personal interest. I will do my very best to adapt my tutoring to your learning style and educational needs, and hope you give me the opportunity!
I love to help students understand what they are passionate about, and grow their interests in a variety of subjects. Helping someone transform their view of a topic from confusing, overwhelming, and boring, to interesting, fun, and comprehensible is genuinely fulfilling. I enjoy getting to know students personally, and helping to alleviate the stress and anxiety of academics, as that has made me significantly more engaged in my educational interests.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The most important part of my tutoring process is identifying your strength & interest areas and your difficulty & frustration areas, in terms of subject, study habits, learning style, etc. Using this, we'll design a learning process for new topics that is personalized to your learning style. This may mean worksheets, discussions, analogy/example -based teaching, an in-depth explanation/illustration, a learning game, or something else that helps you learn and gets your brain active! I'll assess your progress as we go through your work, rather than imposing assessments, so that I can help you meet the areas you need help in, rather than simply pointing them out to you. Best of all, there's no end point to our tutoring process, I won't ask you to assess whether or not you still need my help, I'll simply be here to help you for as long as you need in whichever particular subject you find yourself struggling in.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My undergraduate education is concerned with the way individuals and groups communicate and interpret communication. This concentration allows me to understand the most effective communicaiton styles and techniques for each learner. By identifying each student's learning style, I can tailor the way that I communicate educational material to ensure it's absorbed!
Helping others to learn has always been a passion of mine. In middle school, I tutored my peers in algebra, a skill which I took to high school to help my friends understand new material. In high school, I tutored an elementary-aged family friend in math and english, improving her grade by the end of the year. I continue my everyday tutoring in helping friends with schoolwork, using my communication skills to personalize teaching material.
Currently, I am an intern for the Youth Dialogue Institute in Philadelphia, which works with students from within the Philadelphia School District to create models of media-infused dialogue that can be used for effective communication in their schools, families, and communities. This position has led me to work closely with passionate students, and develop an affinity for amplifying student voice and creating effective learning environments in schools. It has also given me an opportunity to learn closely from professors at my university and develop an understanding of effective teaching.
