About

I enjoy watching my students learn. My goal is to see them learn to love Mathematics or programming. I tailor tutorial sessions individually to the needs of each of my students so that we can meet that goal together.

I am a professional Software Engineer working primarily with JavaScript and TypeScript. While I taught myself how to program in multiple languages, I learned Mathematics and Engineering at university. I struggled a lot to get to where I am today, and understand many of the struggles that people can have with learning.

I aim to help my students learn how to navigate those struggles, and find success, even through failure.

Frequently asked questions

We first discuss what goals they want to accomplish, and in what timeframe. Second, we discuss problem points, how we will tackle them, and their general experience with the subject matter. Finally

I am in the process of completing a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering, with an Associates Degree in Software Design. I also have a One Year Associates in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. I have been tutoring in multiple subjects since 2013, including,  but not limited to: Maths, Digital and Analog Circuit Analysis, Linear Network Analysis, and JavaScript and C++ Programming.

One of my fondest teaching moments happended while tutoring a client in Web Development. After struggling with the concept of HTTP verbs, they asked me about them. I tried explaining them a few different ways, but they could not seem to understand.

Then I decided personify them and described them as people asking questions from each other, attributing unique actions to each verb. The look of understanding that followed is something I will never forget.

I learned again how important it is to tailor learning and tutoring to each person.
