Mrs. Liz's Elementary Tutoring
About
I have been an on-line elementary teacher for seven years in kindergarten, first grade and third grade. I homeschooled my twin sons during their middle school years. Tutoring elementary-aged students in reading and math for the last four years has been so much fun! I love helping kids have those "light bulb" moments! It is my goal to help students learn in a fun, creative way! I like to get to know my students and the way they learn best so we can use that as we work together! My husband, two dogs and I moved to Boise in 2023 after falling in love with Boise while visiting our sons at Boise State! I look forward to helping your student reach their goals!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to get to know my student and his/her needs by having a conversation with the parents and the student. In the first couple of sessions, I like to do activities that help me assess the needs as well. I like to make sessions fun by doing a quick warm-up activity and then introduce the topic of the day. I like to present the topic in a couple of different ways. In the end, I like to do a quick review of the day.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Helping students reach their potential is a passion of mine! Having fun while learning is another passion of mine! I received my Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. I have been a teacher for over 14 years both in an online and the traditional school setting. I have been a tutor for reading and math for over 4 years. I homeschooled my own sons during their middle school years. I ready to help make learning fun and to help your student have those "light bulb" moments!!
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $30 an hour.
How did you get started teaching?
I knew from a very young age that I wanted to be a teacher. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education. My first teaching position was a Lead Preschool Teacher. I then moved to a first grade position the next year.
What types of students have you worked with?
The students that I have tutored have a variety of needs. Some were a grade or two behind. We identified the greatest needs and worked on them to help them to make progress. Others were at grade level and just needed some reinforcement.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I enjoy helping my students succeed. It was rewarding recently to hear a student say that they were proud of themselves because of how well they were doing in school.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would say every student can succeed. I like the word "yet."
You might not know something yet but that does not mean you won't soon!!
