About
I teach math, reading, science, and writing using evidence-based practices to improve student outcomes. Please keep scrolling to find information regarding your target subject!
(MATH) U.S. math education is in a crisis: students are falling through the cracks due to skill gaps, ineffective instruction, and low state-level accountability. (CRPE, 2025) These issues directly crushed student confidence and deepened disengagement. Algebra I acts as a gatekeeper course as the largest predictor of future postgraduate success. Students are consistently underprepared for Algebra by 9th grade because key prerequisite skills are left unaddressed. Students who struggle in Calculus typically do not have fluency in Algebra, and research shows that receiving additional corequisite algebra support drastically improves their Calculus performance.
My high school (Algebra 1/2, Geometry, Precalculus, AP Calculus, IB Math, MOWWM) tutoring first diagnoses knowledge gaps, and students progressively build mastery in a personalized sequence.
(READING) My structured early readers (ages 3+) curriculum is systemic and explicit, backed by decades of research from the Science of Reading. After diagnosing existing abilities, your student will develop critical literacy skills including letter-sound knowledge, phonics, phonemic awareness, morphology, and reading fluency through engaging games and activities. No prior alphabet knowledge is required!
(EDUCATION) I graduated from the University of Washington with a B.S. in Bioengineering and a B.A. in Music Performance with a minor in Applied Mathematics. I am skilled at helping students overcome learning barriers, based on years of researching evidence-based instructional models to make learning fun, relevant, and accessible. My methods integrate approaches (like Universal Design for Learning) which support students with ADHD, autism, dyslexia, and other learning differences effectively.
