English Tutoring
About
Hello!
My name is MyQueena, and I have been tutoring for 8 years now. I started as a peer tutor at my community college, in both the tutoring and writing centers on campus. Then, once I started the teacher program at Central Washington University, I began tutoring elementary students part-time as I worked towards my bachelor's degree in elementary education. So I have experience tutoring students from Kindergarten through college level English, reading, writing, and math. I currently have my B.A. in Elementary Education and am working on my M.A. in School Counseling, and use tutoring as a way to help supplement cost of living.
Tutoring is what got me excited about education and wanting to be a teacher! I really love being able to help both support and guide students through understanding English, reading, writing, or math. Some of my favorite experiences while going to college come from being a peer tutor.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I first like to get to know the students by working to figure out their goals, strengths, and challenges in their preferred subject. Then, we work together to set both a big goal for tutoring, such as what specific skill or challenge would the student like to get out of tutoring overall.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have 8 years worth of tutoring experience in English, reading, writing, and math at the college and elementary level. I have a B.A. in Education, with a focus in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I prefer to work with the student to set a price that best fits them. My pricing is based on the length of the tutoring session.

What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with a variety of students who come from different backgrounds, skill levels, and goals, both at the college level and elementary level.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Recently, the family of one of my 3rd grade students expressed that their son has been improving immensely on his reading tests in class. His teacher noted that his reading skills have become much stronger in the last six months that he has been in tutoring. I was super excited to hear this!
