What is your typical process for working with a new student?

Write out any and all ideas just free style it
Then we go through rounds of trimming, adjusting, and seeing what works best. I let the student find their own voice and confidence in their prose.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have four and a half years of english, communications, and journalism education from WWU.
I have worked for two different written publications as both writer and editor(Western Front and Klipsun Magazine)
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I am willing to negotiate price to fit the needs of families. I understand this is a hard time, I'm not out to charge anyone more than they can afford.
My standard rate is $25 an hour
How did you get started teaching?
this will be my first time tutoring students outside of the Western classroom

I recently took a great advanced AP editing class with Besty O'Donovan at Western
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would tell the student to reach out to the best looking candidates and see if they like the person. I believe that students need to feel a comfortable raport when we're dealing with writing and editing.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What areas do you need help with? Thers no bad answers. Ask yourselves what your goal with tutoring is. It can be just to beef up your general writing skills or for a specific test or assignment, whatever is on your mind.
Ask your tutor what their writing expereince is an even ask them to read a piece of their work to see if they walk the walk.
