I love the "aha moment" that students get when their understanding of a subject finally clicks for them. I try to instill confidence in students to tackle the material in their classes without ever questioning their own capability.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I first assess the students understanding of the material through a couple opening questions. I then walk the student through an example problem, using explanations that are catered to their level of understanding. Finally, we work together through the problem that they are working on, where I try to nudge them towards coming to their own conclusions, instead of just handing out the answer.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BS in Biochemistry from Western Washington University, and two years of tutoring experience at the WWU tutoring center.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Currently, my going rate is $30/ hr, with a minimum session time of one hour.
How did you get started teaching?
I've always loved teaching, but the first time I did it professionally was in the WWU tutoring center.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with a wide variety of students, from dedicated stem majors, to students majoring in liberal arts who are working through required stem courses.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find someone with a degree in their area of expertise from a reputable school. Ideally, choose someone with experience in a dedicated tutoring center.
