Writing Tutor
About
I am a published author with a Master of Fine Arts in Writing for Children and Young Adults, as well as an experienced substitute teacher. I am available for assistance with English/Language Arts, Reading, and Creative Writing for K-12 and college students.
My services include any assistance with school work the student may need relating to writing/reading, as well as light additional assignments to boost the student’s grasp of concepts and/or enjoyment of the subject (if desired). Students are encouraged to submit drafts of papers in progress to me ahead of time to be discussed during their next session. Outside of school reading assignments are based both on the student’s reading level and personal interests.
I enjoy both challenging and encouraging my students to push their work to new levels of excellence and creativity. My goal for my students is for them not only to come away from my sessions as stronger readers and writers, but also to gain a true enjoyment of and appreciation for the language arts.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I will start by gathering information about the student's strengths, weaknesses, and goals. I then look at samples of the student's work to learn more about their writing, and will discuss any current projects. When appropriate, I communicate with parents and/or teachers involved in the student's progress. Together, we put together a plan for improving both academically and creatively.
