I am an ex-teacher who has recently changed careers but still missing the hands-on aspect of helping students. I have 6 years classroom experience in teaching English, Math, Science and Social Studies to elementary aged native and EFL students. Through private tutoring, I have worked with students who are on the autism spectrum or have learning disabilities. During my tenure in education, I created and implemented reading programs that helped my students improve in their phonetic and reading comprehension skills at a fast rate. I left the field because promotions in education lead to more time out of the classroom and being impactful in other way as opposed to directly assisting the students. I always felt most successful when my students improved in their reading levels or had those "Aha!" moments when thinking critically. As your child's tutor, I will keep them engaged and use tactics that will get them excited and passionate about learning.
