About
Learning should be fun, engaging, and exciting. That is my goal with Carol's Literacy Support. I tailor lessons to each indiviudal student based on their interests. I also love to incoporate games into learning, the more fun you are having the more you will remember and master!
I have been a teacher since 2012. I have taught all levels: elementary-high school. I am currently working as a literacy specialist through Virginia Beach City Schools.
I have been privately tutoring students since 2016 to help them achieve their literacy goals.
I earned my Bachelor's Dregree in English Education from Northern Kentucky university in 2011 and my Master's Degree in Reading Education from San Diego State University in 2017.
Working one on one with students is a passion of mine. I love to find out what inspires and motivates you and use that to help you find success! I look forward to meeting you!

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First I like to meet with the student and get to know a little bit about them and what they like/motivates them. We usually play some games, chat, and I ask them to answer a survey.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I usually charge $50-$60 per session. Each session is one hour long.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with elementary-high school aged students.
I also have extensive experience with students with Individual Education Plans, and reading disabilties. I also have experience working with high level students in advanced and honors classes. Finally, I have about 5 years experience working with students who are learning how to speak English.
