About this tutor

I have provided tutoring sessions for 5 years to K-12 grade students. Over the years, I have learned different teaching methods to help with the overall goal. I use the students’ unique passions and make math relevant. Majority of school lesson plans are designed to teach every student the same way. Here with Simply Math Tutoring, I will tailor the the lesson plan to the student.

I enjoy helping those who struggle with math. The most rewarding part of what I do is watching the growth in the students. Overall, I just love to teach.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

Introduction, followed by their level of understanding, analyze the student by asking what they enjoy doing outside of school and to test and see what method of learning they enjoy the most. After assessing, I tailor the learning session to them which creates an efficient production of learning.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I currently attend the American Military University. I am majoring in Electrical Engineering which involves advanced mathematics. I have completed an Instructor Course within the Coast Guard which improved my teaching abilities. I have also completed a course that teaches you how to learn which helps with the understanding of different methods of learning.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

I provide different prices depending on subject complexity/ grade level and the deadline timeframe.

How did you get started teaching?

I began around 11 years ago when I became qualified in many subjects in the Coast Guard. I discovered that I was pretty good at it which was proven by the level of successful members whom passed their qualification boards the first time after being instructed by my teaching methods. After this, I began to teach math to fellow shipmates who struggled with their online classes.

What types of students have you worked with?

Elementary, Middle, High school, and some college students.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

I have currently passed all my 3 college classes with “A‘s”. I also helped a man who was struck by a vehicle and I was able to provide first aid till the ambulance came.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

Make sure the teacher can teach more than one way.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

What parts are they confused with and what do they understand about the topic.
