About
I am very focused on providing my students the best education possible. I have a passion for helping children and teaching math. I am extremely patient and will not proceed until the student thoroughly understands the basics. I have had past students locate me and thank me for being so attentive to their needs and for helping them understand math.
I enjoy watching students understand a concept and the "light bulb turns on" for them. I also take such pleasure in their progress. I taught math and Algebra for 7 years and then entered IT. I came back to teaching after retiring. My love for children is beyond words.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I get to know the student and discover what his/her goals are. I assess where they are by asking some questions so as not to intimidate them. I then work with them to figure out the best path as far as where they are, where they want/need to be and then the best way to get there as far as pace we want to achieve. I speak with the parent/s to ensure we are in step with each other. Finally I prepare a plan and meet with the student and parent/s to discuss. This becomes our "contract" to meet our goals!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My degree is in Math Education. I taught math and Algebra for 7 years to middle school aged students. I also mentored my team members for the years I was in IT.
