I taught high school English and Pubic Speaking.
I have a BA in English and a JD from the College of William and Mary, Williamsburg, VA.
I have spent my career of 45 years teaching and then practicing law. I excell in teaching others how to comprehend what they are reading, to write well and to be effective public speakers.
I enjoy teaching all age levels from 1st grade through graduate school.
I absolutely love teaching all ages.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My first approach is to get to know the student's personality, goals and needs. I listen to the students very carefully without interruption, and I assess the parent's goals.
Then I ask to see the students materials to assess the level of difficulty for each student. If the student has homework, I request copies of the assignments.
Next, I ask the student if they are having any challenges in specific areas. If the student identifies difficulties, I ask the student to tell me about individual challenges.
Following that process, I ask the student to identify areas that do not present regular challenges.
Once I have this information and the student is comfortable with me, the student and I formulate a reasonable approach to the student's needs.
I developed this approach with all new clients when I was practicing law. This approach reveals their personalities, their goals, their difficulties and issues, their personal interactions with their parents, caretakers and teachers, and helps formulate an effective approach to overcome learning and interpersonal challenges.
