I love discerning the best way to communicate a new idea to students. Everyone is most receptive via a unique teaching method. I pride myself on having the patience and observational skills to find the best method for each of my students. Learning is like climbing a tree, first you must find the strongest starting point, and branch into new concepts from a solid basis of understanding. Not only must the starting point be carefully chosen, but each building block needs to be broad enough to be the foundation for the next. I don't believe in teaching for testing, because each discipline requires different analytical and creative thinking skills. I figure out how to play to my students' stengths and work towards building their confidence as well as their knowledge.
