Published freelance writer with advanced degrees in creative writing and long time writing instructor in remote and on site environment at collegiate level. Experienced working with those in sciences, and ESL, for whom writing is alien territory, and college level students needing to master the essay in any major. Also worked with high school AP English.
I love writing and have many years of helping students produce thoughtful coherent essays in any major. I also enjoy helping high school students, of all backgrounds, prepare for college. My teaching philosophy is use posiive feedback and no matter what a prior teacher has said, or what the prior experience has been: to help every student find their writing voice.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Initial private discussion includes client goals in writing improvement and the a method of measuring progress.
We determine "point A,' where we are now; and the best, most economical path to "point C," meeting the specific goal.
The writing I engage and teach is from the "Zinsser" school; that is, to write as succinctly and to the point as possible. I also teach that good writing is re-writing, so we spend time on the best drafting then the best revision techniques.
My students leave with the confidence and ability to priduce coherent essays on demand in any endeavor.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Graduatre degree and post graduate work, as well as published writing and fifteen years teaching at collegiate lebvel.
