Elementary And Middle School Tutor

Hello! My name is Mark and I am currently a 5th grade teacher for Fairfax County Public Schools. I have dyslexia and this has driven me to teach. I am trained in Orton Gilligham which is intervention used to help students with dyslexia read. In addition to teaching 5th grade, I have also taught 4th and 3rd grade gen. ed. as well as 8th grade special education. Before teaching I have run sports camps and been a counselor at a local camp in Northern Virginia. Lastly, I come from a very large family. Throughout my life I have had the opportunity to work with all sorts of kids with a variety of different backgrounds. I enjoy being able to positivly infleunce the student or students I am working with no matter what stage they are at. Whether they excel in school or if they are grades behind I love to be able to meet a student where they are at and work to improve while celebrating those improvements. Working with students one on one allows for a better understanding of the personal needs of the student and an adapted and fixed plan to helping the child make improvements.
