About

My teaching and tutoring philosophy is, every person learns in their own unique way, there isn't just one formula to apply that suddenly makes learning a breeze. In order to learn, improve or excel at anything, finding out how you do is the first step. Then, tackling the subject based on that individualized style unlocks so many out of the box ways that we, as a team, can use.

I have Master of Education degrees in all subjects, and years of experience working with students in over 200 additional subject areas (learning is not just a four subject world). I know what it is like to be both the teacher and student, and I always find that I connect with my students in an honest and personalized manner.

Trust that you are in great hands!

I love what I do because I'm able to reach students in a way that suits their unique learning styles and understand them as people overall. It's easy to forget that the teacher was a student, too. I believe that this is important to remember, and know that when we meet challenges and successes together, we do so as a team. Teaching is my passion and purpose; this drives me to work with others to show them just how talented they truly are!

BU

We were racing to find the perfect person to work with our son preparing for his SSAT, and eventually later, his SAT. Kate is phenomenal. She showed him not just what was on the tests, but also things we never thought of, like knowing the small details and rules, location, and all things involved. He scored in the top percent. Coach Kate is amazing.

After hours searching for the perfect tutor for our son we landed on this site. Kate was immediately suggested as a perfect match for our needs. She has so many degrees but as a person she shines in her passion, not just how she looks on paper. She provided us with so many resources before we even started. Although her rate did seem rather high, we didn’t shy away from talking to her. And we haven’t regretted a single minute, we couldn’t be happier.

I thought at first with all of her degrees and experience that she would be really strict, but then I talked to Kate and it was life changing. I ended up having to take the GED now all of a sudden I’m at The University of Texas studying to become a teacher. Like Coach Kate.

Coach Kate initially worked with my son to pass his HSPT exam which is one of the hardest. Kate found his learning style and their sessions were always different and exciting in their approach. He still reaches out to Kate to say hello and thank her. I don’t believe my son ever believed in himself the way she made him see. We still adore her to this day.

Kate homeschooled my grandson from Florida online from Virginia. The school said he was at a 6th grade level with too many behavior problems, but she taught him all subjects that the public school would and at his grade 8 and behavioral health to do that.

I was accepted into eight colleges after working with Coach Kate and almost gave up with all of the essays and tests. Coach Kate was there even when I was so exhausted. She’s great. Always will be my Coach and the best teacher I ever had.

Frequently asked questions

I don't feel that a typical and strict process is the approach to teaching, it's actually the antithesis of what I believe when meeting, and, working with a student.

I believe that trust is the basis of a working and productive relationship. That may happen right away, or slowly build as our work continues.

I like to explain my "rules against the rules" that I've noticed bring about a very questionable look at first, followed by comfort. Students realize they play a part in the process.

I hold five Master of Education degrees: English, Social Sciences, Science, Mathematics and Special Education (all exceptionalities). As well, I have a B.A. in Communication, a Minor in Psychology and Minor in Sociology. I have taught, tutored and mentored for over 16 years.
