I got a start teaching as a volunteer since I found it helpful when I was tutored in school since it was such a positive impact for me. My goal is to provide them with the same experience that I had and then some.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
My advice is to pick a teacher who is passionate about the subject and equally as passionate to the student succeed in that subject.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Aside from knowing the subject and having experience, I think there are 3 basic questions that students should think through when choosing a teacher.
1. Are they passionate about their subject?
2. Are they committed to helping me learn even when it seems really hard and I feel stuck?
3. Does their schedule work for me?
