Experience through my education and the tutoring of peers for several years has brought me a skill set that I am eager to use to aid in your child's academic writing needs. Personal experience with ADHD/ASD students and family has given me an insight into the power of the neurodivergent mind, and an openness to the special communication needs. I focus on releasing my students from academic shame, and provide gentle guidence for them to find their own strengths in writing.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I start with questions. What are we working on? Where are you in your process? What are your goals in the assignment...and your class as a whole?
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a year of experience working with high school and junior college students on their writing in a variety of subjects.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I currently charge $15 for an hour long session. As a student continues working with me, I offer discounted rates for frequent students who may need more attention than others.
How did you get started teaching?
After the completion of my English Composition courses at my college, I was tapped for a tutoring job opportunity at my school's writing center. I continue my work there at this time.
What types of students have you worked with?
My students are diverse in many way. Race, culture, country of origin, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, neurotype...ALL students deserve access to a fullfilling education and confidence in their own work.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Whenever a student returns to me saying they excelled in their assignment or the instructor complimented them directly on their work...I love that. They become stronger writers and develop a great reputation with their instructors.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
The aspect you should focus on is whether or not you can communicate with your tutor! Does the tutor seem open to communicating in the way that best reaches you? Or do they seem rigid and not open to addressing the challenges in a way that you can understand?
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
It is important to have a solution in mind. Not everyone is great at problem solving, and while a student may recognize a barrier to their own education, the instructor not only may NOT see the barrier, they may also not have the knowledge on how to break down that barrier.
If you tell your instructor you needs directly, you are much more likely to receive accommodation for your needs.
