Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When working with a new student, I typically follow a structured process to ensure effective and personalized tutoring:
Initial Assessment: I begin by evaluating the student's current understanding of the subject, identifying strengths and areas for improvement.
Goal Setting: Together with the student and parents, we establish clear, achievable goals for our tutoring sessions.
Customized Learning Plan: Based on the assessment and goals, I develop a tailored plan that addresses the student's specific needs and learning style.
Interactive Sessions: I use a mix of explanation, practice problems, and real-world applications to make learning engaging and relevant.
Regular Progress Checks: I continuously monitor the student's progress, adjusting our approach as needed and providing frequent feedback to both the student and parents.
Building Confidence: Throughout the process, I focus on boosting the student's confidence by celebrating small wins and encouraging a growth mindset.
This approach allows me to create a supportive, effective learning environment tailored to each student's unique needs.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a third year college student at Indiana University (Kelley School of Business). I have been a TA for Calculus 1 classes at IU. I have also done extensive tutoring as a high school student, helping peers with Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, and AP Calculus AB.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
For 1 hour I charge 30 dollars. I don't typically like to teach for more or less than 1 hour at at time, but you can contact me and I might be able to make and exception.
How did you get started teaching?
I got my start start teaching my brother. He is for years younger than me and I have been teaching him math for nearly a decade now. Once I got to high school, I started tutoring my peers during my free time.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students who were struggling with their grades and wanted to improve them, as well as students who just needed help with certain topics. I typically teach Algebra 1 and Geometry, but I can teach math at a lower or higher level up to AP Calculus AB.
