About

I am a current Senior at Virginia Tech majoring in Human Nutrition, Foods, and Exercise and minoring in Psychology. I am an Honors College student at VT. I am also conducting research at VT on low-cost prosthetic knees. I work for the University part-time, so I know what admissions is looking for in a potential student. I love tutoring all ages and all learning-abilities, but I am especially interested in helping rising seniors by helping their college applications stand out and maximizing the financial aid they recieve.

I enjoy empowering my students to create successes on their own.

Frequently asked questions

I first assess the goals the student and/or parents of the student wish to achieve and evaluate where the student is presently. We will then collaborate and brainstorm a plan to help the student reach his/her goal for the class(es) he/she is recieving help for. As the tutor, my aim is of course to help a student improve a grade in a subject short-term, but also to teach and equip my student with learning skills and strategies to utilize in the long-term for continued sucess.

I am a Bachelor of Science Human Nutrition, Foods, and Exercise student at Virginia Tech. In high school I was a teacher's helper for Honors/AP Biology for two years. I have tutored at the college level through the Honors Residential Commons at Virginia Tech for two years in various subjects including but not limited to: psychology, biology lab and lecture, statistics, human anatomy and physiology lab and lecture, essay editing, nutrition, exercise physiology, history, etc. Through my psychology education I am learning how to work with children, students with learning disabilities, and special needs. I teach Sunday School with Pre-K aged children as well.

$15 for every thirty minutes I work with you.

I began tutoring my peers and high schooler students, and teaching Sunday School to Pre-K aged children as a way to volunteer in my community.

I have worked primarily with college freshmen and sophmores in introductory-level classes, and High School students in Honors/Dual-Enrollment/AP classes. I teach Pre-K Sunday School. I have experience with babysitting special-needs (not tutoring for school).

Ask the teacher if they can explain the same concept to you in multiple ways. Sometimes when we are experts at something, we forget how to explain a concept plainly or easily for a student to understand. If the teacher can not teach something to you in a way that you understand it so you could teach it to a friend all by yourself, then that teacher may not be the right one for you.

What about the material or concept is hard for you? Is there a pattern of what is hard? Where are you getting stuck?

What do you struggle with more - the material, or the motivation, time management, or study skills needed to master the material?

What does your week before a test or the night before a big assignment is due look like for you?
