About

I’m Greta! I am a sophomore at the George Washington University majoring in political science and mathematics. After I graduate, I plan on attending law school to study copyright or criminal law. However, I developed a passion for tutoring mathematics in high school. I enjoy teaching mathematics courses the most, but also have experience tutoring high school students in the introductory courses of biology, chemistry, and physics. I graduated from Briar Woods High School in 2017 and received A’s in all my math courses. I have always had strong math skills and was advanced by two years in mathematics compared to the state standard. I hope to be able to tutor students who need any range of help, from those who are having a difficult time keeping up with coursework, to those who want to be one step ahead and work ahead of their class. I truly believe successful learning starts with a positive attitude and I try to do everything I can to make learning a fun experience.

I typically start off my tutoring sessions by going through detailed lesson plans in order to introduce the topic to the student. After introducing the topic, I give students a visual representation by guiding them step-by-step through basic examples. Afterwards, I always ensure time for students to do some practice questions on their own to gauge the level of learning they did in the session. I’m always looking to improve my tutoring techniques in order to maximize student success. I truly believe every student has the potential to succeed, but sometimes need a positive outlook and an individualized, more personal approach to teaching.

I have three years of tutoring experience as I was a part of Mu Alpha Theta, or National Math Honor Society in High School. I qualified for the organization for having an unweighted math GPA of 3.7 or higher and because I had a passion for the subject that I wished to share with other students. During my free period, I worked directly with students who needed additional assistance by working with them one-on-one in my school’s math resource center. Additionally, I frequently visited math teacher’s classrooms and worked with students during their scheduled class time to ensure that they didn’t fall behind. I tutor mathematics ranging from algebra 1 to AP calculus AB, excluding geometry, but specialize in algebra and Precalculus topics. If you feel as though your child needs help of any kind, and are interested in having a tutor who still has fresh knowledge of the courses your student is struggling with, then please consider me as your tutor.

I want to benefit the students I work with as much as possible and therefore welcome any suggestions from parents or students. I strive to build a strong foundation in math and want to help students achieve the “A” grades they are looking for. I am easy to reach and will always provide fast responses. Feel free to contact me with any additional questions or to schedule a lesson!
