About

I graduated from Longwood University, received my PK-6th grade licensure, and also completed a Master's in Reading, Literacy, and Learning. I love turning learning into a game, and have worked with a variety of different ages and types of students.

I love working with children and helping them to understand the world around them! Learning through experience and exploring is always a plus when possible.

Karley is excellent! She took her time to understand my child’s needs, and collaborated with me on the process.

Frequently asked questions

When starting with a new student, I like to find out their likes and dislikes, and what they would like to focus on. I also like to learn more about the student in general. Depending on the subject, I have a few different assessments I give so that I have an idea of what the students' needs are and where to begin instruction.

I have a Bachelor's in Elementary Education, and  a Master's in Reading, Literacy, and Learning. I am also licensed to teach PK-6 in Virginia.

I generally charge $40 for a one hour per student, and $25 for 30 minutes per student.

I have been working towards becoming a teacher since elementary school. I have been taking teaching/education classed since high school.

I have worked in 1st, 3rd, and 4th grade classrooms. I have done one-on-one/small group tutoring for Kindergarten all the way through 5th grade.

One of my 4th grade students recently mastered multiplication and division, which we had been working on for a while and was a big milestone for him.

Definitely make sure that they are someone that your student gets along with, and enjoy teaching/being around students.

They should think through what types of answers they would like from the teacher. Are they asking for the teacher to lead them to the answer? Clarification on directions or certain steps to take? Or do they need a review of the topic?
