About
¡Hola! My name is Rachel, and I have studied Spanish for the past 10 years! I earned my BA in Spanish from the University of Mary Washington and as of now, I am now a High School Spanish teacher. Before teaching, I worked as a translator for the federal government and a private law firm. Although I am not a native speaker, I have had the opportunity to travel to Spanish speaking countries, and even lived in Bilbao, Spain. I love working with students and sharing my passion for the Spanish language/culture. While I am confident and able to work with students of all levels/skill sets, I love tutoring students at the lower levels, as I am able to provide them with a strong foundation, which will support them as they continue to study the language!
In the past, I have tutored students at a variety of levels (k-12 & at the collegiate level) as well as help in preparing for the AP Exam. When working with a new student, my first plan of action is always to determine what the student is struggling with, and figure out how I can explain the material better for the student. I am super flexible, and always willing to provide students with work they can complete prior to our session, so we can maximize our time together.
My favorite thing about tutoring is seeing my students' confidence change as they become more confident in the language. My students’ success is always my first priority, therefore any feedback from parents or students is always welcomed! I strive to provide a response to inquiries/questions as soon as possible. I look forward to tutoring your student!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When working with a student, first I need to see where they are at in the subject and determine what they are struggling with. i offer a free consultation, which allows me to learn more about the needs of the student & from there I am able to develop lessons/activities which are molded to match their personal learning style.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
BA in Spanish
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I typically charge $25/hour. I am very flexible and try to maximize the hour by correcting work/pulling materials for the session before hand.
