Gwen's General Tutoring
About
I'm very skilled at quickly picking up skills and learning new concepts in such a way that I can teach them to others. This also translates to generally being quite adept at helping someone who has difficulties learning something finally grasp it!
I love getting to see that spark of excitement in someone's eyes when they finally manage to get a concept that has been so very elusive! I have been teaching, helping, and tutoring people for over ten years now, in so many different situations and styles!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I start out by seeing and learning how they learn, so that I can most effectively communicate what they need to know.
How did you get started teaching?
Honestly I've always found it so rewarding to help someone learn something! Even when I was a teenager, I helped my classmates find their way through their classes. After that, I never truly stopped teaching.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with a number of students from a variety of different backgrounds, but generally I find myself working with neurodivergent and LGBTQIA+ youth most often.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
There are three really big ones! The first being, what am I trying to learn, broadly? The second, do I know where I am stumbling? Finally with the third, is there a different perspective to look at this with?
