Tariq Ahmed
About
Hi! I am Tariq Ahmed, I am 28 years old, and I have over 10 years of tutoring experience. My background includes graduating Cum Laude from the University of Southern California in 2018 with a Bachelors of Arts in International Relations and Global Business. I then received my Master's in Global Health and Development from University College London in 2019.
I have experience working with K-12 students as a tutor, academic mentor, and education consultant. I offer personalized and innovative approaches to tackle students’ needs which align with my vision as an educator. I am adept at helping students improve their reading and writing abilities, as well as improve their abilities within any social science discipline.
I have obtained over 10 years of tutoring and mentorship experience through my various education related roles. During my undergrad at USC, I worked as a Corps Member at Jumpstart, one of the nation’s largest early education organizations. I worked with over 50 Pre-k and kindergarten students on reading, math, and socio-emotional development skills. During my tenure, I oversaw significant improvements in literacy and speech and behavioral development. Additionally, during my undergrad I served as a Reading Tutor for USC’s Joint Educational Program and an Academic Mentor and Tutor for USC’s Room to Read. I primarily worked with students who fell behind, and I crafted unique and personalized approaches to accelerate their academic development in alignment with the rest of their peers.
I believe my educational philosophy reflects the values that students need. I tailor my lessons based on the student’s profile and I assess based on the areas I want to see that specific student grow.. I want to give all my students the tools to decide what is best for them. Education should be indiscriminate, and my role is to encourage self-discovery so a student can entertain every passion and interest they have.
