    Frequently asked questions

First we do introductions and get to understand who we are and what our goals are. In particular, we will cover what style we will want to learn our subject in: theoretical, practical, and/or applicable.

Then we work on scheduling how I can help your goals.

We'll come up with a plan we can both agree on and monitor our progress throughout our sessions.

I graduated from the University of Virginia with a B.S in Computer Science. In my degree program, I had to learn physics, calculus, logic, and other complex subjects. The rigor in University gave me the ability to quickly learn any subject.

Before I went to the University of Virginia, I attended Northern Virginia Community College. There, I tutoring many students in Chemistry and Math. I had a blast teaching students.

    Additionally, I know spanish.

For lessons where the goal is to understand what another course is teaching you the price will be $16 dollars an hour.

For lessons that I'm constructing for your learning style and pace, the price will be at most 24 dollars an hour. This higher price is for the time I will spend outside of teaching to prepare a specialized lesson plan for you.

One day, a random student approached me while I was studying in the library. She asked if I could help her. After that, she continually asked me for help on topics. Soon after, classmates of her did the same thing.

At college, I tutored people in the tutoring center. I also tutored people outside of the tutoring center.

Adult students, college students and some highschool students.

I've worked with  ESL students in the past as well.

I've had limited experience with students with disabilities but I am always flexible to teach new kinds of students.

Learning anything difficult is a vunerable experience. As a result having someone who can support and give you confidence is important. Don't hire anyone who would put you down or make you feel inadequate.

Teachers can only known so much about what you know. So helping teachers understand what your misunderstanding is important.  However, sometimes what you misunderstand is not clear to yourself either. And that's okay! Rather than think of any specific question, just try to think of what I can do to help my teacher understand me.

ex. "I am having trouble in X subject. The topics A and B don't make sense. "

This is a great starting point! I know to focus on topics A and B now. However, topics A and B could be misunderstood because of other topics that they rely on. For example if topic A required topic Z to understand. Then I would have to at least cover how topic Z is being misunderstood.
