What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My tutoring process begins with a basic introduction between student and teacher. The next step is to learn the students needs and the topics they're studying. Afterwards, the tutors investigates the students proficiency with the subject and the students goals they wish to acquire with the tutor. Once goals and background information is clarified the tutor will begin discussion, dialogue, and tutoring of the student to accomplish goals.
How did you get started teaching?
My friends and family thought I would make an excellent history professor. I thought about the times I talked about my favorite subjects and learned I enjoyed sharing what I've learned over the years. I wanted to share more of what I've learned and even learn the perspectives of my students and others on the topics we discuss
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Hire a tutor which is passionate in their specialization. A tutor that loves their subject, and loves the people their share their knowledge with.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Ask why do they teach? What is fun about teaching? What is exciting about teaching, about their subject? Does teaching make them happy?
