Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I start out by asking about goals. I prefer to help them with their homework for the first few weeks or so (previous or current) to gauge speaking ability. From there I would prefer to have weekly sessions so we can keep the momentum going. There would be homework, and assignments such as finding music in Mandarin students enjoy, translating music you enjoy, reading children's books, watching Chinese T.V., and more.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I studied at East China Normal University in Shanghai for one year.
I studied at the University of International Business and Economics in Beijing for one year.
I was a teacher's assistant for a beginner Mandarin class at The Beijing Center.
I tutored students in Mandarin at my University, Regis University, for over 1 year before graduating.

How did you get started teaching?
I find such joy in teaching Mandarin! I started out by teaching English in China, and figured I would enjoy it the other way around as well.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have primarily worked with students ages 18-21, but am completely open to working with any age!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
