Inspire Education
About
Much of my experience and education has been focused not only in supporting children in succeeding in school, but also in promoting life-skills. I not only assist kids in passing class, I also encouraging confidence, resilliency, passion, and perserverence. I don't just help students succeed in one subject during one point in time, I help nurture life skills that will hopefully continue uplifting them after our sessions have ended.
I love helping kids realize that they are capable of having the agency in their life to succeed. No matter their obstacles, I enjoy demonstrating to children that there are so many tools to accomplishment, from new, more suited adaptations for their learning style, to breathing techniques to help them calm down and focus.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Every student has a unique learning style. It's difficult to have a positive working relationship before getting to know someone. I aim to approach new students with an open, empathetic mind in order to find ways to connect and support them in their goals.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been supporting students in learning for much of my life. From tutoring my little sibling as a child, to supporting kids through my youth outreach group, I spent much of my upbringing learning to support other young people. As a young adult, I worked full-time at a education-focused daycare during my gap year and during summers in between semesters throughout college. In college, I took classes related to childhood development and learning and volunteered at the local middle school, assisting young girls. After graduating, I spent a year and a half working in Homer, Alaska, supporting elementary aged students in and out of school. When covid hit, I quickly adapted to virtually supporting students as they finished their school year online.
How did you get started teaching?
As a young person, I often helped my little sibling and my peers with their work. As I grew older, my love of supporting others in learning did not wane and I have consistently worked in the field since my first job in high school.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked for many years with pre-school children. I spent the last year and a half primarily assisting elementary aged children (k-6th grade) in and out of school. I also volunteered with middle schoolers throughout my years in Blacksburg, VA while working on my undergrad degrees.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students should ask themselves what are their goals? Why do they want a tutor? What do they want to accomplish?
