As a native Spanish speaker living in the United States since 2003, I know from my own experience how hard it is to become truly confident speaking a new language. However, English speakers have an advantage, in that romance languages are easier to learn because they are more regular. Learning English made me aware of this advantage, and teaching English speakers is easiest when they understand this and other advantages.
