About
Hi my name is Jeremy and I’ve been studying mathematics and statistics formally now for 6 years and am also working as a statistician currently with an accounting firm. Having always enjoyed being in school and learning, my goal is to help others who may be struggling or finding difficulty with their math or statistics knowledge. I know these types of classes can often be intimidating and discouraging, whether you’re taking an introductory statistics course or something more advanced, which is why my philosophy centers around patience and practice. Taking the time to really understand what we’re doing, versus just trying to get the right answer to a question and moving on. I believe that by taking the time to focus on the ideas and concepts, anyone can build confidence in these subject areas.
Relatedly, I also program in R and SAS, which are both statistical and data analysis software. If you’re taking a course that requires coding in these languages, my same philosophy applies to building confidence in using these programs. Patience and practice. In my experience learning a programming language is no different than a learning a foreign language like Spanish for example. The more you practice the better you will get, and I can help you build the foundation for understanding how to use these powerful tools.
And finally I’ll add that as a tutor, I want to make sure I’m the right fit and can help you achieve your learning objectives. If you think there’s something I can help you with, please reach out! I want to make sure you’re getting the help you need.
Thanks for your time and I look forward to hearing from you.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like for students to give me an idea of what kind of help they're looking for (i.e. studying for a class, an entrance exam, etc). and the topic areas they're looking to improve upon. Based on an initial discussion I want to make sure I can give the student the help they need.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a B.S. in Mathematics and am currently working on my M.S. in Statistics. I also work as a statistician with an accounting firm.
How did you get started teaching?
I started tutoring by helping others online through various math forums and courses. I also collaborate with other students in my masters program.
