About

I am have worked as a research scientist at Utah State Univerity for 2 years and am preparing to apply to medical school. I use a focused approach to help students develop strong problem solving skills. I have a pattern that I train students to use.

1. Identifying Key Concepts

2. Looking for Patterns

3. Disciplined Focus

Through this pattern, CDC tutoring seeks to help students excel in the sciences!

I love giving students the skills they need to acquire the knowledge they need to succeed! Watching a student start to comprehend material is amazing!

It helped me to organize my thoughts better in tests and homework problems which really helped! I just needed to come more prepared to the session with things to talk about.

Frequently asked questions

My tutoring begins before the new student and I meet. I ask new students to send me a course syllabus and a description of what they are struggling with. With that information in mind I develop a study plan and tutoring schedule that helps the student gain maximum comprehension of the material.

When we sit down in our first session, the first 15 mins are a discussion on what they are struggling with, then for the rest of the session, we dive into the material and practice study skills, work problems and review our weekly goals and plans for the material.

I am a graduate of Utah State with a Bachelors in science in Biochemistry. I minored in public health as well as successfully obtained a 516 on the Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT). I currently work in anesthesiology research at the University of Utah.

I started teach at the university when I was asked to fill an open position in the general chemistry labs as a Teaching Assistant. I have been teaching and advising ever since.

I generally work with college freshman and sophomores, but I have worked with High School Juniors and Seniors.

I recently went stargazing up a canyon near where I live and I was amazed by the beauty of nature where I live! I was stunned again by the size of the universe!

While the grade is important, it is a reflection of your comprehension of the material. My goal is to help you gain the academic skills required to learn the material, retain the material and build upon the material in the future.
